Description

We like to take the opportunity of KI 2016 in Klagenfurt to bring together researcher in AI in Austria. Although, we all meet a lot at international events networking and cooperation within Austria is limited.

Therefore, we will organize the informal workshop with the title Current AI Research in Austria (CAIRA). The idea is simply to bring researcher in the broader area of AI in austria together and initiate a re-networking in this area. We will also take the opportunity to conduct the general assembly of the Austrian Society for Artificial Intelligence (ÖGAI) during the workshop.

The outline of the workshop is twofold:

1) Group Presentations

We like to invite research groups in Austria to present the group and its work (20' each). We will provide a template in order to streamline the presentations to four items:

  • present your unit or organization
  • present research questions your group currently work on
  • present briefly a current project
  • what do you think is the next big thing in AI

After the workshop we will collect the presentations and publish them on the web - further we will condense the information in an overview article for the OCG journal.

If you are interested in presenting your research group please contact the organizers via email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Confirmed Groups:

  • Institute for Computer Graphics and Vision, Technische Universität Graz
  • Institute for Software Technology, Technische Universität Graz

2) Individual Presentations

We will invite people to submit extended abstract of 2 pages about original research work. This should give phd students or young researcher the possibility to present their work. Selected contribution can be published in the ocg journal as well.

Please format your contribution according to Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Please submit your contribution via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Depending on the number of selected presentation we will give each presentation around 20 minutes.

Important Dates:

  • express interest for group presentation: 31.8.2016
  • submission extended abstract: 24.8.2016
  • notification acceptance: 7.9. 2016
  • workshop: 27.9.2016
